Welcome to (mis)Adventures of a Lupie Mama!
I’m Jolinda and I just happen to be a Lupie Mama. Learn more About Me here.
What’s a “Lupie Mama” you ask?
A “Lupie Mama” is a person who has Lupus and has been blessed to be a mother. There are some out there (ahem…my husband) who would define that as being somewhat unhinged or crazy or scatter brained. All of which could describe me but I’m going to go with the Lupus description for now!
Do I have to have Lupus or be a parent to follow this blog?
Absolutely not! I’m spreading awareness of Lupus and other chronic and/or invisible diseases while showing the world that it is possible to be a parent with these conditions. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or diagnosed years ago, know someone with lupus or don’t know anyone with lupus, you will find all sorts of resources and information on here. So take a look around learn what Lupus is or what a day can be like for us.
What’s the point of this blog?
Great question! When I was first diagnosed with Lupus I couldn’t find much information about it. I was 17 years old and what I was finding seemed rather bleak. Many of the articles advised against getting pregnant or made Lupus sound like a death sentence.
Well here I am nearly 13 years later and I’m here to tell you that parenthood is not only possible with Lupus but it can also be fun and a joy to experience. There have been some grand adventures and there have been misadventures but that’s life. We have our stay in bed days where we all just hang out in our bed watching movies together and resting and we have our busy days full of playing, crafting and being on the go.
